Do you recall The Far Side® cartoon by Gary Larson where a man is crossing the street between two buildings and he gets hit by “The Old Age Truck”? As he lies in the street, tire marks across his back, his friend approaches and says “Jim, you too?” The caption reads You Never See it Coming.
Exercise every day, do my best to eat a healthy well balanced diet, and spend plenty of quality time with my loved ones. I had a sore back the other day – not from lifting weights, nor from yard work or helping my friend move. I got it from sleeping wrong! How do you sleep wrong? The only difference or thing I could think of had to do with chronology. I am getting older and therefore I have found a way (or two) to screw up sleep.
It reinforced the idea that something’s like aging are beyond our control. The best we can do is age optimally, sore back or not. I can most certainly imagine it much worse if I did not exercise every day, do my best to eat a healthy well balanced diet, and spend plenty of quality time with my loved ones. The Old Age Truck will eventually hit each and every one of us, but it’s going to have to drive really fast, negotiate a number of turns, and work really hard to catch up with me! I encourage you to ‘look out’ for it was well.
