Your skin is the largest organ of your body.  It is also a window into your overall health.  We spend billions of dollars every year in attempts to keep our skin looking healthy and free of wrinkles, dryness, and wear and tear.

A simple and proven intervention to help keep that young skin look is daily probiotics.  You read that correctly – probiotics, or good bacteria for your gut, play an important and vital role in the health and look of your skin. The mechanisms are many, but without doubt, probiotics can provide great benefit for your skin’s look and may even have anti-aging properties to help decrease the visible proof of your life experiences.

Probiotics can also treat skin concerns like psoriasis, eczema, dryness, and acne. From personal experience, I know that providing even small infants with a good probiotic can have dramatic effects on baby eczema and completely heal it without the all-too common (and dangerous) drugs usually used.

While most probiotics are taken orally, one potential way to use them is to find good quality probiotic, in capsule form, and apply it topically to areas of concern.  Simply open a few capsules, add a slight bit of water to make a paste, and apply it locally to areas of concern twice a day until resolution is reached.  It’s a simple and side-effect free way of treating common skin conditions and ailments.
